Home

Since my last update I have visited a bunny cafe, cat cafe (that's right sippin' on that tea and cuddling fluffy cuties is what life is all about), kitsune cafe, went to a twilight movie festival at zushi beach, roller disco at Tokyo Dome (on blades because I'm unco therefore I suck), partied hard/perved at all the gorgeous well dressed hotties at Trump Room and of course shopped my heart out!

lover skilk shirt, sretsis playsuit, white tokyo boppers, deadly ponies leather backpack, my giant fat face from the JR exhibition at Watari museum

One of the highlights was M.Y.O.B's pop up store opening at Kitakore building (designer's studios and  revamped warehouse housing independent, forward boutiques, DOG and Garter, click the link to watch Pharell Williams take us through the joint) where I finally met the incredibly lovely Maya Kibbel as well as the super sweet BABIN' designer's themselves, Comi and Tanimi. These girls are onto something with their cool, hand-made, statement accessories, I just had to own something before they blow up! Photos of the night by Maya Kibbel; more here!

Two weeks left, I am so upset to be counting down the days I have left here! I sure could get used to living here...

Merry Daily

It's been golden week here in Japan, where all the public holidays coincide within one week. That's one week of drinking, partying or flocking out of Tokyo! I went on a Shinkansen (bullet train)! Something I've always wanted to do...

tattoo sheer top from etsy, patent skirt and purple net bag from nadia, new tokyo bopper platforms (arghhh so in love!!)

We spent a few days sipping on holy water, visiting beautiful temples, getting lost in the alleys of Ponto-Cho (nightlife district tucked in a narrow back street which runs for miles lit by lanterns) and eating a heap at Nishiki Markets (my favourite thing was the terriyaki octopus with quail egg in its head, haha sounds gross but I would make the trip just for these bad boys) in Kyoto.

Then it was an afternoon in Osaka, eating our way up Dotonburi (this food of restaurants and food stalls are decorated by larger than life plaques of giant takoyaki signs, puffer fish or dancing mascots, it was a bit like walking through the EKKA, but a million times cooler) then sat by the sunny canal under Ebisu Bashi bridge with a few strong zeros waiting for the Glico sign light up!

Meanwhile I have been compiling a list of favourite places and shops to visit around Tokyo; will definitely be sharing that as soon as I've been everywhere!

Put it

It will be three weeks on Wednesday since I have been in the land of the rising sun.  Since the last update, I have met a group of genuinely lovely souls through my best friend, saw the end of the Sakura season, purikura'ed frequently, went to the Robot Restaurant, Kanamara (PENIS) Festival and JR Mural and Exhibition at Watari Musem, really takes photobooth to a whole new level!

Liber Oz sweater over vintage army turtleneck over sized top, gun tights, socks from cannibis, platform sneakers from harajuku

First of all, I want to tell you about one of our favorite places to drink.  We always seem to end up at this tiny max capacity of I'd say 20-30,  300 yen shot bar in Shibuya and be loud obnoxious gaijins. They're super laid back and don't mind joining in, I swear they hate us a little bit, but are learning to love us. The best part is plugging our iphones in and make them play the tackiest 90's pop, that's when the partayyyy starts. We even dressed up one weekend as school girls, Pikachus, maids and cheerleaders, costumes we found at Donki (favorite superstore where you can get anything you could possible need in life, I'm talking kerastase to person sized dildo's) conveniently around the corner.

This time in Japan, I was lucky enough to go to the Robot restaurant in Kabukicho was absolutely INSANE! Words just cannot explain, except that we all wanted to be employees afterwards. It was super fun, ravey, devoid of any sort of concept though the venue and costumes were mind-blowing (in the greatest tackiest, overkill of ways). I apologise in advance for rotating the camera, I'll get better I swear.

After an all nighter, we managed to pluck ourselves out of our graves for Kanamara (festival of the steel phallus eheeeee!). It takes place in April near a shrine prostitutes pray for protection against STD's and business propsperity while couples pray for marriage and fireworks in the bedroom. We sat in the sunshine, ate takoyaki, drank, perused the penis shaped vegetable carvings, beautiful old shrines and other novelty penis ornaments. It's pretty much a tourist attractions these days, intriguing seeing old grannies in traditional kimonos sucking on penis candy.

Finally, the JR Mural and Exhibition at Watari Museum has been another highlight so far of this trip. Brought to you by the artist who is renowned for his inside out project, the exhibition chronicles his artistic career. His large scale poster art transcends international borders and highlights issues across the world. His mission is to create galleries open and accessible to everybody, and give individuals responsibility over what they do with their own image fostering the creation of links between people, the exchanging ideas and asking questions. All images taken are archived and tells stories of people about communities from all parts of the globe. Then there is us being top line bandits!

I will be starting up personal shopping, Tokyo goodies on the blog store soon, keep your eyes peeled! I have also been making a note of all the Tokyo suggestions as well, thank you :)

✿✿✿ Daisy ✿✿✿

Finally I have arrived in Tokyo! I've already been here for a week and it seems like I have chosen the wrong city to train myself to utilize self control and discipline. However, I am well aware that if I can do it here, I can do it anywhere. But we won't worry about that for now!

So far I have been out at Vision Sound Museum, seen Brodinski and Panteros666 (even the tips of the hair on the end of my arms could feel the bass, really seems they have no noise restrictions or public safety laws :D), we stayed out until we couldn't couldn't hear anymore (and until we discovered it's 6am) and attended a party at Saturdays Surf where Curtis Kulig did a live collaboration. I've also seen the beautiful Sakura, turned 23, spent quality with my best friend who I am finally reunited with and, of course, did way too much shopping.

If you have any suggestions about place to visit/things to do in Tokyo, hit me up, I'll update soon with more piccys and our cute tatami apartment!

Nightmare Vapours

I'm so excited to finally show you what I've been up to! It has been a long time coming, but I got to collaborate with two amazing creatives on a little project about a girl who is haunted by sweet but sometimes, sinister entities of another dimension.  Her mind is ruled by an obsessed illustrator, whatever he draws comes true in her world. She tries to ignore them but she would secretly feel lonely without them.

Kawaii Diaries

So sorry it's been a while! I've been loosing my soul working full time for a a few weeks, saving up (and playing Borderlands). The bad news is that this will continue for a few months but the good news is that I will be moving to Japan for two whole months then heading off to Europe for a few weeks! I guess that also explains some really good deals up for grabs, and many more to come, on my blog shop!

It's so sad to have one of my best friends on the other side of the world at the moment! We recently had a kawaii going away party where everyone dressed up as harjyuku girls, geishas, sailor moons, asahi beers, gameboys or just wore chopsticks around their necks. So that's what I wore, wouldn't it be nice to be a real 'FRUITS' girl?

Anyway, the exciting thing is that I will be joining her soon at the end of March. Sushi and ramen everyday, purikura every chance we get, cute packaging, tatami mats and dress ups is only the beginning! We will be there working or Spool Collective for a whole two months to see what event we can produce by the end of it!

Anyone want to hang in Tokyo town?

Earl's Punch

Couldn't help but look like a fruit salad in this weather! Most people I know love winter but I love summer, maybe because I'm cold blooded, or that I'm never in Brisbane this time of year to feel the heat, but more so because you dress light, drink slushies and who doesn't love summer festivities? Music festivals, pool parties, road trips, fruit punch, watermelons icy poles and crystal clear waters to dip your feet in. The only downside is trying to fall asleep without air con, in a pool of your own sweat.

neon cross earring gift from adri, asos crop, emma mulholland shorts and walart paper wallet, topshop vinyl belt, odd future watermelon socks, clear boots from blog store, deadly ponies backpack

Nothing screams summer like Emma Mulholland's neon iguana denim shorts, I fell in love with her sporty and bright, 'as bad as iguana be' collection from the get go. Squealed and ran for the credit card at work when her goodies went on sale via The Grand Social and did a rush order, lived in them since! From her grad collection till her latest, 'spaced out,'  she gets me every time, the Emma Mulholland girl never fails to look like she fell out of the internet, whether from an online coral reef of bright neons and psychedelic kaleidoscopes or an augmented reality of iridescent aliens. Trust that her clothes are always forward, unique, super fun and most of all guaranteed to make your day and other people smile.

On another note, besides trying to move as little as possible in this heat, I have been watching loads of Rocko's Modern Life, (remember that show? It used to blow my mind) and browsing though delicious summer cocktail recipes! Ty Segall's new Twins is also a great summer album, it even sounds like the hot midday sun beating down on you, hot and aggressive, can't get enough of this.

What's your favorite way of coping with the heat, favorite activities/recipes/etc? Please do share!

Milk Teeth

OMIGODSH it's MILKBBI! I managed to wisk myself away to a super kawaii, frozen winter wonderland  (away from this dank Australian heat), thanks to Justin Wallis, mastermind behind the fantasy realm where chilhood, sugary-pastel dreams dwell. He is an illustrator who draws the most memorable, stylish and quirky characters, if only they all existed in an alternate universe, I would be GIF partying in baby technicolor and just be head over heels in love with all the cute boys, girls, aliens and puppies. Justin was lovely enough to send me my favourite goodies from his store and his boyfriend put in some temporary tattoos he makes because I have always been obsessed with them on instragram (@danielguerrerofernandez)!

backpack, sweatshirt, badges, zine, tattoos all by MILKBBI, clear vinyl choker from my new etsy store here and white platform boots coming soon
